Tree Surgery Services

There are many different ways to manage trees. We have set out examples below which illustrate some of the key types of tree surgery works that can be undertaken.

All our works are sympathetically carried out following discussion with the client to understand their requirements and aspirations, and with careful consideration of the tree, its condition, and the site and its surroundings.

It is important to understand which method of working will be most appropriate for your tree and its situation. We can help by coming to have a look at the tree and advising you on an appropriate course of action.

Please contact us and we would be happy to talk to you about your requirements with absolutely no obligation.

Crown Lifting

Crown Lifting

This process removes the lower branches of the tree to increase the clearance between the ground and the crown.

It is an effective way to ensure that low branches don’t obstruct paths, roads and drives, and it also allows views to be opened up of the tree trunk, allowing views through the lower portion of the tree which may not have been possible before. If you have a tree which is situated in close proximity to your house, crown lifting can also be a great way to bring more light into the house, and also to other areas of the garden.

Crown Reduction

Crown Reduction

This process reduces the overall size and shape of the crown.

Reductions are usually carried out equally around the outer crown to maintain a balanced shape all over. It is useful to prevent branch failure in the outer canopy, to help control canopy growth, and prevent branches from obstructing buildings.

Pruning

Tree Pruning

This involves precision cuts to re-shape the tree, and reduce branches in strategic locations.

The pruning method is often used to reduce heavy weighted limbs, or to remove deadwood to make the tree more safe, and to remove specific branches which may be causing obstructions to buildings, public rights of way etc.

Crown Thinning

Crown Thinning

This reduces the density of the tree crown without changing the overall shape and size of the tree.

Thinning reduces the amount of foliage and allows more light through the crown. If you have a tree with a dense crown in your garden, this method can also also be an effective way to reduce the effect of shading on your house, and within your garden. It also allows wind to peculate through the tree, reducing the chance of wind throw.

Distmantling

Tree Dismantling/Section Felling

This involves dismantling the tree in sections and is an effective method if the tree is located within a restricted space.

We can do this in two ways, either by tree climbing using a rope and harness, or using a MEWP (Mobile Elevated Work Platform) which allows us to access the tree from the safety of the platform. If there is a target beneath the tree (e.g. a greenhouse) which we need to ensure is not damaged during felling, we will use rigging to control timber descent, and lower branches with precision safely to the ground, without causing any damage.

Tree Felling

Tree Felling

This is the process whereby the tree is cut down to ground level by making precision cuts at the base of the tree stem, causing the tree to fall in a single action.

The cuts we make are strategically positioned to ensure that the tree is felled in a controlled and safe manner, and that it falls in the desired location and avoids damage to surrounding property.

Mewp

MEWP (Mobile Elevated Work Platform)

We use an elevated Access Platform to enable us to carry out tree work safely at elevations of up to 20m.

We are fully IPAF qualified to ensure safe and controlled operation, and our platform is compact and tracked which enables it to access difficult to reach areas and track over varied terrain. Our Access Platform is also available for hire, please contact us for more information.

Wood Chipping

Wood Chipping

Our range of chippers allow us to quickly and efficiently dispose of debris and brash arising from tree works.

We are able to produce a fine chip which you can use in your garden, or if you would prefer, we will dispose of the chip offsite. We also have a range of wood chippers which are available for hire in a range of sizes including tracked and towed. Please contact us for more details.

Site Clearance

Site Clearance

We undertake tree and vegetation clearance works on a wide variety of sites, clearing trees, shrubs, grass and brambles etc.

We undertake clearance works on sites of varying scales which range from large development sites to smaller scale individual plots, and pride ourselves on the speed at which we operate to ensure total vegetation clearance.

Stump Grinder

Stump Grinding

Our Stump Grinders mechanically grind out tree stumps and surface roots, leaving fine sawdust.

Here at access2trees we have have a range of specialist Stump Grinding machines, which are suitable for every size of stump, and for use on most sites. We have a compact grinder and a larger tracked grinder which enable us to reach sites with narrow access, varied topography and challenging terrain.

Hedge Trimming

Hedge Trimming / Cutting

We undertake a programme of annual and biannual Hedge Cutting works at various locations across Shropshire. The Hedge Cutting work we carry out ranges from routine trims, to reductions and full removal to ground level.

Whether you require some advice regarding how to best manage your hedgerow, need a one off cut or reduction, or you require cuts to be undertaken every year, please contact us and we will be happy to help.
